the trip - post 2

Well it's Saturday and our tip should be ending tomorrow. However, I guess we need to be here for a few more days. Due to bad ice in Dallas our flight has been canceled. Monday's flights are booked so we head out Tuesday.

It has been a challenging week but I think we are turning the corner. Learning how to care for and caring for Alfred`s needs has been overwhelming. For me this hit all at once and nearly knocked me down and out

Thanks to a faith in a God I trust and see work and a wise and strong wife we are back in the ring.

When I say see work I'm not over-preaching. It happens. Let me tell you some ways. For one this adoption. Why in the world did it have to take 3 1/2 years? We could see maybe on our side .. our family was older and our kids had established themselves as individuals within the family. But - still why so long ... well we just found out that had we not started this adoption when we did - Alfred would have been moved to a different home ... one where he would have just existed until he existed no more.

How else ... before Alfred had the excellent caregivers and home he does now he was left in the crib to basically die. They expected he would die by 7. So he was left in the crib and only interacted with for feeding.

As you can imagine this messes with a child. When we took Alfred with us for a two day beach trip he would get very scared and anxious. As we recognized this happening we would begin to pray the peace of Christ and the Holy Spirit over this guy and he would quiet and calm nearly immediately.

How else ... when we got to Alfred`a home to see him today he came excitedly to the door. He then grabbed Michelle's hand and started jumping... two feet off the ground ... not an easy task for this kid. He has bonded in ways we could have never orchestrated on our own.

We are thankful to God for being faithful to walk us through what he has called us to.

I will update this with pictures when we get home.
